Head on Mac 250

I found a Mac 250 with a removable head. Did they come from factory that way or did somebody put it on?

The 250 had a fixed head
Maybe yours has a Kart motor on it

The head on this saw looks like factory because it has the fins on the head and it bolts on to the cylinder with 6 little bolts.

The kart motors MC91,MC92,MC93,MC101 had 6 bolt cylinder heads.
maybe you stumbled onto someones hotted kart powered 250

So can I go to a kart shop and get some performance parts there, like pipes and bigger carbs?

Do they make a good race saw?

NAh that thing would be terrible as a race saw, or even a play in the woods saw. It will probably blow up and take an arm off or maim somebody. Better you send it away to live as to avoid any injury both to your body parts and hearing. I will take it and put it out in the barage with all it's cousins and inlaws and only take it out for cleaning and gentle care and feeding. I will email my address and send the postage paid box so you can just dump it in the mail.
Or if you decide to keep it anyway, hope you have it running next year for scotties old saw contest.
