the shop here in minn. has been in contact with stihl,,

they are cracking the machine open now and it looks like my trouble is due to the fact that the carb settings were set for oregon altitude,

being in minnesota screwed it up

does this jive ??

Sounds like their mechanic screwed up. Rather irresponsible of him to rebuild a top end and not even start it up afterwards to check the carb settings. Sounds like he just bought you another top end.
 
Gotta agree with TC165 and Stihltech, it was irresponsible for a mechanic in a saw shop to do a lean sieze rebuild and then not check the carb settings before giving it back to you. Checking the carb would have been the most basic thing he should have done, don`t let them buffalo you into paying more for a repair. Russ
