How is your hearing? I'm 30 and probably from 18-25 didn't hardly ever flip down my ear muffs. Since then I always do but my wife has made a few comments about me not being able to hear. Maybe I'm just tuning out the kids? I also shoot a lot of guns always wear ear plugs when shooting pistols. I understand this occupation is not a desk job but I'm only 30... am I over thinking it?

I began losing high frequency hearing at about 18. I played in a small rock band and shot guns with no ear protection. I also have three brothers with the same problem so some of it may be genetic.
Have you had a hearing test? If you decide to get hearing aids, I highly recommend the type that fit behind the ear with a small tube and mic that goes into your ear to add only the missing frequencies again. I had the type that fit totally in the ear canal and had many issues with them - feedback, resonance, loss of low frequency hearing. It's great to hear the birds chirping and the crickets at night again. I can turn the TV down really low too!

No test, I can still hear good and I haven't noticed it she's just saying I'm loosing my hearing maybe just comes with marriage? 9 years and 4 kids... I just want to preserve what I have... I always use a petzle helmet with 3m muffs

Probably not. 44rs yrs. old. never wore ear protection, shooting guns air tools working on cars whatever. Definitely regret it. I make the kids wear it cutting the grass shooting etc. I do too but to little to late. Some of it can be hereditary too, but at least teach your kids its not macho to not wear hearing protection, just stupid.

I even shield my beard LOL

After 20 years my hearing is not the best. Its been about 5 years now since i have been using protection and it feels good. just being around the trucks, saws and chipper with no protection hurts my hears. I wear it almost all the time.
