Hey Guys,

Here's a small batch of our axe sheaths that have been oiled and finished by hand. I think they came out really well, and the oils turned the leather nice and soft. Normally, we sell these online unstained/unfinished. So, if you are looking for a good dark leather supple axe sheath, then here you go!

Price - $20 shipped (applies to all 3 sizes)

Sheath details:
-These are handmade in the USA from quality vegetable-tanned saddle leather
-Our Helko North America logo is stamped into the leather
-They are fastened with nickel plated rivets, and tie down with an adjustable buckle strap.
-These are thick, durable, and very tough, and will last!

Right now, I only have the ones in the photo, in the following three sizes:

Small: Fits blades up to 3-3/4" wide - Strap: 17''
- These work well for hatchets

Medium: Fits blades up to 4-5/8" wide - Strap: 17''
- These work well for mid-sized axes

Large: Fits blades up to 5-3/4" wide - Strap: 12''
- These handle larger blades

They can be worn on your axe two ways. Across the poll:

And underneath the poll across the shoulder: (this is more secure)

Well, I can't disagree with you on that, hah! We're happy the way the turned out, and they really do look great strapped on an axe. The rivets stand out really well in that dark leather. Plus, once they're oiled that leather turns soft, and will definitely age well with use.

What oil do you recommend?

Well, to be honest, I don't really have a particular oil I would recommend. I've had good experiences with a lot of the common ones...leather polish has worked well....and I've also been impressed with boiled linseed oil. Although I like polish, I find oils a little easier to work with.

I'll grab a few more pictures today of the sheaths in different styles of axes, to show different fits. One thing I didn't mention....once you know how long you need the strap to be, you can cut off the end of it, rather than let it flap around if it's too long for your axe.

Here's our Tasmania Timber Sport Axe wearing a large oiled sheath:

Here it is again with the strap going under the poll across the shoulder. On this one, it would be easy to cut off the excess strap to the length you want.

This is our Classic Line Hatchet wearing a Small oiled sheath:

Here's a Medium oiled sheath on our Traditional Line 'Pioneer'

Really up to the user if you wear it across the poll or underneath

A friend of mine who has worked with leather for 50 years said the best thing for it is Gillette Foamy shaving cream. I was skeptical until I tried it myself on a big leather rocking chair, my leather jacket and then two leather work belts. I used the low-scented version and the leather came out very soft and pliable but maybe since it is water-based, it would not be good for the sheath?
