I've come across lots of good info from these forums over the years, but recently decided to sign up and get active on here.

I'm a carpenter who occasionally uses chainsaws for work. Sometimes crude cuts during footing formwork, or when joists lap each other and the end length doesn't matter. Sometimes to plunge cut a mortise on the bottom of a 6x6 or bigger post where it will sit on a knife plate. And sometimes, a power saw is used in conjunction with a base plate (Big Foot Tools Headcutter) for finished cuts on rafter tails or head cuts -- that often sounds crude to many people, but the way we gang cut rafters actually provides a nicer end result than other methods.

I also cut firewood for my family. Although we haven't been going as much in recent years, we're trying to get back in the habit!

I've got a MS170 with a side tensioner. Other planned upgrades include a tune-able Walbro carb, and probably a muffler mod. I love this little saw and wish I would have bought another before they were discontinued.

A Radley 50cc clone saw with 20" bar. Bought it on a whim one day for $160 cause I needed it for work. I haven't used it much yet and am still working out the kinks, so to speak.

A Husky 450 rancher -- our first saw. I've never particularly cared for it, but it is zippy! Might experiment on this one a bit with muffler mods as well.

And the most recent addition, a MS660 we inherited from my father in law. It hadn't run in a long time and I ended up shooting the parts cannon at it, before getting a pressure / vacuum tester and diagnosing a bad crank seal. It runs now and I'm looking forward to taking it firewooding.

Anyway, looking forward to joining in on the discussion -- thanks for all the great info over the years -- I'm looking forward to learning more :)
