I'm originally from NEPA, but I fled to the Utah mountains after high school. I started college at the University of Utah, thinking I wanted to be an engineer. But after two years, I realized that I mostly worked outdoors. So I transferred to Utah State University and found a program in plant science. I started out thinking a golf course superintendent would be a fun gig until I realized the most important plant in the high desert is a tree! Near the end of school, I started working for a plant healthcare company. It took about eight years before I felt competent enough to venture out on my own. My driving force was that people treat plant healthcare like their healthcare: if there's a problem, there's a chemical solution. But I think cultural practices, such as providing adequate water and healthy soil, have been overlooked. I joined this forum to see how other people in the industry are addressing these concerns first.
