OK, why do you use different files for different chains?
Doesn't a smaller file increase the hook on the side plate of a cutter?

SpikeSupra, Why do they make different sized shoes? Don't smaller shoes cause pain? What if you have small feet? Proper shoe size to match your feet, proper file size to match your cutters.

A goal in sharpening a cutter is to have a straight angle on the outside side plate. The smaller the file, the harder this goal is to achieve because smaller files have smaller radius.
Notice what new chain looks like, see the straight side plate angle?
Wouldn't one way to straighten the side plate angle be to use a bigger file?
