I have a 49sp automatic oiler bought a new used pump off ebay cant get it to oil, all the lines are clean the gear that drives the pump turns, the teeth are good. The adjustment screw, which way do you turn for more oil?? where should I start with that all the way in?? Any help??? Thanks!!!

Do you have bar oil in the tank?

If your tank is full of oil, the drive gear isn't stripped and you have cleaned all the oil passages and hoses, I would say you have another bad oil pump. You can test the pump out of the saw by placing a few drops of oil on the pick-up side of the pump and rotating the drive by hand. The oil should transfer to the discharge side of the pump.

Jonsy 49SP oiler woes

My 49SP is not oiling the chain. I took 'er apart, inspected, etc. For my unit, it does not appear that oil is dropping down from the tank through the hole. There's 2 holes in the chamber the pump occupies, likely one in, one where the oil goes out through the little hose. At any rate, while looking down the empty cylindrical slot the pump occupies, I don't think I can see the teeth on the crank end that supports the worm gear that runs the gear on the pump shaft. Those who have 49's with this problem ought to make sure that the worm gear is not worn out. Right now, that's my next avenue of investigation. Help!!!
