Hey I have a trimmer that has a broken piston ring I need to replace. . . I have had my local shop order me a ring set 4 times now, and they have never been correct... Any stihl techs out there have the power to give me the correct part number??
thanks
greg

4119-034-3003, you'll need two, they are sold as each.

...

yeah, I've been known for my timing... not....
Any special ring compressors or anything I'll need?? Do you just spread them to get em on the piston?? they seem fairly brittle, so I didn't kinow if theyd break if you try to spread them far enough to install....

Thanks again for the help...

I always start one end in the piston groove and gently work it around till its in. They make a little plastic strap for compressing the rings so you can put the jug back on, 0000-893-2600 if you want to buy one, about $4.00. A piece of plastic about a 1/2in. wide and 8-9 inches long will work. Just get the rings line up on the pins in the piston groove, wrap that plastic strip around them to compress them and slide your jug on. As you push the jug down your strap will be pushed out the way and then your off to the races, nothing to it.

I don't have any experience, but when I read this, I automatically thought of a zip tie. Maybe? The bigger ones can be cut to whatever length might be needed? Just thinking out loud.

A zip tie would work great as long it is wide enough to cover and compress both rings at one time. It could be a bee itch if not wide enough.
