Hey guys I need a little help on adjusting my husqvarna 261 carb. First off I replaced the piston and honed the cylinder and that did a world of good for my compression but now I'm stumped on how to properly adjust the carb. I had it running half descent after seemingly hours of adjusting but the L needle was turned out approx. 5 turns at this point and that had me seriously concernded as I don't think it should be anywhere near that far out right?? But period I would like to know where I should start the needles out at to adjust. Also which way do I turn the L needle to get a leaner mix? I always thought it was clockwise (shutting the needle) but I was running leaner (less smoke) at 5 turns than 2 turns?? Yes I know this is a really long paragraph and I am a newby, but any help would really appreciated. Thanks!

I did not rebuild it but that's not because I didn't order one (seller sent me wrong kit). But yes I thought of that but there seems to be enough consistency that it has me thinking I'm just not doing it right?? How far should you start the T (throttle screw) out at?
