I volunteer with the Boy Scouts here in Greater Chittenden County and each fall we hold a mini jamboree (camporee).

I was hoping that the NEC ISA would be willing to help us set up a Kids Tree Climb similar to the one I saw at the ITC in Montreal last summer.

Our troop is Hosting the 2006 fall camporee but I’d like to see if we cant set up a Kids climb for the fall 2004 and 2005 as well.

Is there any way the NEC ISA could help us?

Basic parameters are as follows:

Groups of 5 to 10 boys ages 11 – 18
30 to 45 minute periods
8 to 10 periods during the day
Format should be a “work Climb” with fun and simple stations or tasks to be accomplished within the canopy.
All equipment and materials would need to be supplied by the “experts”
At the fall 2006 event Sponsor Banners will be encouraged.

Please let me know who else should talk with.

My wife is a District Executive for the Boy Scouts, and I would like to set up a similar event next year.

Let me know what you learn.

Thanks,

Steven

A few years ago I helped in planning a Camporee. We got a few Econ / lumberjack team students from C.C.F.L. (local Community college) to demo lumberjack competetion events.

My wife also works for the Scouts as an admin to the Field staff.

OOPS I cut and pasted from the email I sent to my local ISA Chapter. Hence the request for help from them....

:p

Actually, I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with experience in setting something like this up.

Even Better, if anyone is interested in coming to Vermont in the Fall to put on a Kids-Climb I'd love to talt with them.

Don't forget about insurance to cover the little monsters. You'll be accepting a huge responsibility and liabilty for their safety. A one day policy will probably run about $50 per kid!
