You want to sell it? I had a mint one before I started porting and looking back I wish I would have ported it. I bet they are a beast ported. strong runners stock.

Try a new plug?

New plug gap set to specs. Set the gap for the charging coil, no corrosion between the charging coil and spark coil connection. No corrosion on the wire at the boot or at the spark coil. New carb kit. Good compression, case has no air leaks, tank vent fine, flywheel is not altered and seats on key correctly. Disconnected shutoff switch to verify it's not causing problems.

Normally I would just buy a coil but with this being a less common saw its harder to find parts, it has two coils and echo/shindaiwa parts are so expensive new, and there's very limited aftermarket.

ive heard of putting the coil in the oven at around 200 degrees but i would ask around first. dont let the wife know

That’s a unique looking coil. There are some members on here from other countries. Wonder if someone could get the part from their country?

Yeah it's certainly different than modern coils. Availability isn't so much the issue as price. It's $100 for the exciter coil. I bought an aftermarket 488 coil set off Amazon for $30 and going to see if I can modify to fit.

Any news on the outcome? My 488P does this sometimes.. Did it today actually.
