Help This Patio Peach

I bought this little patio peach in April and planted it in June. It's not doing very well.

It seemed to be doing okay, but took a turn for the worse a couple of weeks ago.

The plants around it are thriving and this little patio peach about 5 feet away is doing well despite being trampled by dogs over the winter.



Any ideas? Just wait it out and see if it makes it?

If dogs are trampling it, then they are probably urinating on it too. We had a couple bushes die from dogs urinating on them.

It is planted very close that downspout. Perhaps it is getting too much water.

It is drowning in that hole you put it in.

It appears to be AT THE VERY LEAST - Anoxia, lack of O2 in the root system. At the very most it's a soil-borne pathogen, either phytophthora or pythium. Both of these diseases occur when there is excessive moisture and/or reduced oxygen in the soil. As Jeff stated it also appears that this shrub is a "submarine commander", i.e. planted too deep. The chances for survival for broadleaf evergreens in this situation is about zero. I would also HIGHLY recommend that before you replace it, you extend that downspout WELL past the area containing plant roots.
