Anyone have any secrets or tips on how to get the wire spring (best description I can think of) that holds down the compression valve back into place? I've tried for close to 2 hours now to get that thing back on and I can't do it. Hopefully someone has a good tip or can tell me what tools I need to do it correctly.

In case you might have overlooked the thread title, this is for a Homelite Super EZ auto.

Thanks a bunch!

Wake up brain.... its been a while

Its been a little while now since I played with an EZ, but if I remember right, here's what I did. First, don't fully tighten the nut completely that holds the stud the spring slides over. Leave it a little loose so you can slide the spring over the stud with it at an angle (angled outward away from the airbox housing) so the spring isn't bound as tight initially and it'll slide onto the stud easier. Also, don't try to slip the tang over the compression release valve initally, just get the spring over the stud first. Then, using either some pliers or a scredriver as a lever, pry up the tang of the spring and engage the compression release valve detent. As the last step, tighten up the nut on the stud and this will draw the spring down with its full pressure.

Hope this makes sense. All of my SEZs are at the farm or I'd try to take a few pics to help illustrate.

Good luck,
Dan

Thanks for the help. I finally got it on after some prying and swearing. I don't remember that much pressure when I took it off, but wow....that spring is stiff!
