Well that is a tough question he was with you 4
years was he loyal? Is cancer cured ? That would be hard spot to be in
and I don't envy ya one bit but follow your heart pray about it and the
right decision should come!

his integrity has been questioned in the past as to why he didn't show for work, not in a while though.cancers gone

This is a business decision. You are not choosing your best friend. Explain the situation and tell him you'll use him when you need the help, if he has the time.

Good luck.

Sounds liek a good excuss to expand the business since you have 2 qavailable climbers.s 1 is a better worker and the other you know will be around for 4 more years due to loyality.

truth is, do what is right for the company. Tell him you have another guy who is much more efficient/better or whatever and that you can give him some work until he gets a new job to help tide him over.

Tough call. I tend to go with friendship/loyalty over what's better for the business in matters like this, but I know that's not the "right" way. In looking back over the three successful businesses I've had, I know that I kept some guys around when it was not in my best interests, businesswise, but I would probably do it again. Look into yourself on this one, and play the scenario through where you see your old worker out looking for a new gig. If you can live with yourself on that, and I honestly mean that in a positive way, then keep the better worker.

Offer him some part time work till he can find something full time.

Call around to your friends and acquaintances in the industry to refer him actively, vs telling him that you will give him a good reference.

If you do right by him, you screw the "new" guy and yourself.

Could the current worker run the show while you sell? As said above this could be an opportunity.

Maybe he could part time for you and one or two other companies while he gets back into shape and everyone figures out which way they can go.

thanks guys, out with the old in with the new. the old guy didn't climb the new guy does. my old guy is or was my friend i guess. it was a tough decision :buttkick:
