I have heard of some old chainsaws running backwards.Two strokes can run backwards but the ignition timing will be off. The Mercury dockbusters, as they were called did not have a shifting foot, instead, the motor would stop and start up in reverse. If it didn't start in reverse, you busted the dock.
I was thinking the compression would be the same. But, the port and transfer positions on these non reed valve saws would make them impossible to run.
Thought I would check .
