My boss used to cut with a homelite C9 when he was a kid, anyway, he was just given a pair of super XLs one auto, one not. The auto's fuel line is melted into a sticky, gumlike substance, and looks like it's going to be a bear to clean off, that aside, the tank side of the line seems to be covered with a cast shroud. I'm not sure, but it looks like i'm going to have to completely remove the clutch and side cover, and then remove the shroud casting to get at the tank nipple.. are there any majjor caveats about this job?

The non-auto is in much better shape, however one of the clutch shoes is blown, and the drum rotates constantly. i may be able to swap the shoes out of the auto, as I may need to remove it's clutch entirely anyhow. Is there are source for new clutches or shoes? The clutch seems to be removed by a spanner wrench.. will i need to make one or buy one from someone, or is this spanner a standard tool?

Homelite parts

Randy Duncan, again.you could prababely get the entire saw, from e-bay,for the price of the parts.:(

I'm seriously considering going to ohio specifically to kick randy duncan in the backside. guy never gets back to you on parts. I *REALLY* need a set of points for my 1-80.. and i just missed a set on ebay (auction remonders in email don't do any good when you're not at your computer) So, I've emailed him for a quote.. and i'll be darn surprised if i ever hear back. I don't know how many of my saws are broke down just because randy diuncan can't answer his email...

The fuel line should have been a molded one they are a little tough to get worked through the hole. You have to oil it up and work it through there without tearing it. Its self explanatory when you see it. Most people pop a rubber grommet in there and run a length of tygon line through it. I can get you one of the molded ones.

The clutch I usually get it off with a hammer and cold chisel on the edge of the spanner holes. Its primative but works for an old beat up saw. Or you could probably fab the spanner up easily.

Why bother with points ever tried an atom module? If points need replaced I use one of these in place of them works very well. I have those too if your interested shoot me an email.

the problem with just zapping one on there is that the line that is in there has been rendered into goop.. so i have to de-gooptify the tank nipple before a line can be installed.

I've ordered Mac stuff from Randy Duncan twice, and it got to me very fast both times. Haven't had any trouble contacting them by phone.

Instead of e-mailing Randy, go to the "Ask seller a question" function on one of his auctions, and then just ask him about your parts. That worked for me.
