In the second picture, of your post below, is your saw still running? I'm inexperienced but, if still running, this would appear to be an invitation to a kickback.

Anybody else got any thoughts on this?
 
She's in the small part of the tree, so the tip is probably safely on the outside. If it isn't then it would depend on whether she's drawing the bar back or what kind of pressure is being applied. After all, plunge cuts can be done safely if the right technique is used.
