That isn't Mike-no pink tights.:p

Congrats Brian, I'm sure you will find many non-hacking uses for you Power Pruner.

I really prefer to use the power pruner for removals... Its pretty difficult to make good target cuts when pruning and there always seems to be a couple of bad cuts or accidental scratches when over reaching...
I Am sure that it will pay for itself quickly and repeatedly.... ( Extra quick cause it was a gift!!!)
Have fun...

SilverBleu, we all know that front end is light on that model!

PP can help in precutting to clear obstachles etc., "roughing out" what needs to be cut, immediately having stuff for ground crew to process etc. Finishing out with rest of tree and finishing PP cuts in country!

User in remote position to cutting fallen, hung trees is nice too. IMLHO

Good Luck, :jester:Happy BirthDay:jester: !

Happy Birthday RJS

The power pruner, or chainsaw on a stick can be a valuable part of your tool arsenal. The first year I had my Echo PP, I hardly used it at all. Found it real tip-heavy at full extension and it trashed my low back the first couple sessions. Then one day I realized I could remove the bar oiler altogether and keep a can of WD-40 close at hand. Magnifico !

Since the lightening up of that business end, and the easier maintenence when an occasional chain flips off, I've since gone to dribbling a bit of veggie oil right on the bar and chain. Lasts 4-5 x longer than the WD-40. See, this is a tool you don't use for long periods at a time, nor do you want to cut big-diameter limbage, thus, not a lot of heat potential and lack of an auto-oiler is really no big deal.

Like Murphy4, I pretty much use if for takedowns to clear the lower limbage in a hurry. Never have climbed with it.

Enjoy. -TM-

I was pruning a dead limb out of an oak tree today. Found a little mouse living in this cavity which was created by the dead limb.

Yesterday a power pruner was used at work to remove some small juniper bushes that were no taller than 3.5 feet. So why power pruner??? Bee's nest underground at the base of the juniper and they were buzzing around kind of upset.

Even the power pruner wasn't good enough. The bush was set to flames to complete the job!!!

love

Mike, since we use PP= Power ported as an adjective and PP=Power pruner as a noun there doesn't seem to be much cause for confusion. However, you are hereby granted permission to post about your Power P. Perhaps you could start a thread about Power P-ing in the wind?;)

Hmmm.... Nick that reminds me. I once used mine to remove a large Cholla cactus. Worked great since it kept me away from the beastie and once it was cut up I used other tools to pick it up and throw it in the truck. Somehow in that process I wound up with a cactus spine driven through the gas tank of the PP! Just glad it wasn't through my anatomy.:D

Nick (and all others),
If you have something else to do for an hour or so, stick a little dab of Sevin powder around the base of the hole before you piss them off. Most of them will then be dead in an hour or so.

I've used Talstar spray (it was all I had) before, and was amazed at how fast that worked. Inside of 1/2 hour, though it made them madder to start with than Sevin would have.....

i've made a face cut and walked the backcut almost to failure, then triggered folding safer away with PP remotely on risky, storm fallen stuff.

Polesaw makes good triggering device on tight hinge (smaller diameter) or tight rope for remote 'detonation' of loading.

Good tip on bees/wasps/hornets suppose might try on our frickin fire ants too! Pick something up and have a 100 of them on ya choosing to headstand and chomp in perfect unison is not only aggravating, can last for weeks of reactions; but a lil'freaky how they do it at once...

i attack known flying stingies stuff in cool am, calculating cold blooded insect needs lots of warmth to raise 90w cold body fluids to warmer/thinner viscosity for allowance of rapid/fluid wing powering at maximum.

Or something like that!
