Being newly registered I thought I'd say Hi. I've checked in from time to time and got lots of help just by searching old posts.

I'm a Jonsered fan by default- I was given an '84 630 by a family friend/ retired logger. It needed just a little TLC and now is my main firewood saw. I love this saw! And from searching old posts here I can see that I'm not alone. I used friends' Husky's and Stihl's prior to aquiring the red saw. What a gift. It's got lots of life left in it.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I also have inherited my father's echo cs-315 from the late 70's. It's a great little limbing saw and although the oiler is now "manual" it starts right up and runs great. I found out the oiler runs off lobes on the crankshaft which are now too flat to operate the pump. The fix is a new crank which isn't a top priority at this point.

welcome J-red. I to am partial to your favorite saw, mine is a 630 super and it to is my favorite. Im working on a second with a 266 husky jug for 67cc's. just to worn you. the more you read, the more saws you end up owning. there's just no stopping the fever. good luck!!!!!! Welcome to the forum! :biggrinbounce2:

Just be aware that the 630 isn't a "pure" Jonsered, it is a red and black version of the Husky 162se. :hmm3grin2orange:

There is really nothing bad in that, it just makes it easier to find parts for these semi-old saws.....

Here is a tread on the family of saws that the 630 belongs to.

Yes this is a great site! I just wish you would stop talking about beer! For health reasons I had to give up booze.I'd rather give up sex.(9:jawdrop: 90 to 95 degrees and beer is a lot better then sex!

Thanks Sawtroll for the link to the 6xx discussion... There seems to be some question as to when this model line was introduced and whether or not later saws had more power? The 670 was the competition saw? At any rate my '84 was one of the earlier 630 models. Anybody have a chainsaw dyno?

Welcome aboard J-red.

Lots of good info here and lots of experience behind it.

...you just have to put yer hip-waders on once in awhile... it can get pretty darn deep in here! :D :D :D
