This could just be a legend, but I heard of this tree service in Big Bear,Calif. 15 years ago got 50,000.00 for removing a big pondarosa pine next to a newly built mansion. The tree I heard was dead and pulpy, you could pull chucks with your hand, and no crane access. They say he built scaffolding around it and pieced it out. Before you flame me, I know the guy by reputation(meant him once)and he has done some unbelievable stuff. He may of told me or someone else, I can't remember, but I never forgot the story. Beastmaster.

That sounds pretty cool. Once in a lifetime job right there. Something about those old trees. Any pictures?

Had to go to the main puter to get these picts as we did it bout 8 years ago and never took a pict. back then.

This is a much bigger tree than it appears in pict. Kyle is standing a ways in front of it and It is down a hill to the base and was the biggest bur oak in the state of Ohio (still listed as such I believe) before its top blew out. The new portion of the house you see was crushed and an 22 ton crane blew black smoke and couldn't pick up the leader on the building so we got a 50 tonner (180') and cut the entire top back to laterals after clearing the house.

I took a big cottonwood (7 foot dia 1 foot off the ground) over a swimming pool for 5,500. all i had to do was piece it down with the crane and leave it layin.
I also cleared 5 miles or big elms beside a highway for 25,000. and i didnt have to climb a one, every one layed over

How can you say that? This is the COMMERCIAL tree care forum. It makes perfect sense to talk about our biggest jobs, and our greatest commercial successes.

The thread did not say "what is the worst screwing you ever gave a customer", so I have no problem with it.

You salary employee, you don't make d ick. Nothing wrong with talkin about what a good well earned difficult job pays. You wouldn't know cause you don't work. You ride around.

I can kinda see what Jeff is saying. Maybe a little uncouth to talk money on a public forum... I'm really not that worried about because all of my money is accounted for... Besides... I did not disclose my biggest paying job, just one of the more lucrative ones... ####, smileys aren't working for me...

But really Jeff, you need to go moonlighting and make a good 20G job on your own... It'll make you roar like a lion...

I bought a $20,000.00 lawn mower & bid a grass cutting job @ $50.00............! LOL

Just joking, couldnt pass it up!

LXT.............

I'll admit to being an idiot, my biggest single tree was a willow in a back yard that we had to hand carry the wood out, it was around $5500 with the stump. My stump guy had to take the Rayco Jr. in there and work it for 5 hours  I have worked and consulted on storm trees that were much higher. Last year we had another willow in a tight back yard that we had to remove and clean-up in cycles, just so there was room to work. Final billing on it was around $12500. 3 days of work over a months time I made over $1500 on the job.

Biggest muni bid i ever sold was storm cleanup for a school district for $10k.
