Its sounds like finding a kid that was raised by wild dogs. All you have do is clean him up and civilize him. Have you tried him with a knife and fork yet? :p

I'm still bustin a gut , thank you, Monkey.

Literally, i feel we're rescuing him from some 'tribe' of American treeguy subculture. He's a boy of the woods, has probably been scaling trees since he was 4 years old. He can probably claim that he climbs trees better than he does anything else. Physically, he may maw his way through the canopies at genius level. His rudimentary technical gear, he has overcome with raw climbing skill.

Can I have him?

I've got an idea.

Let's circulate him around for the next year, cruising him through all of our vastly varying systems, two or three weeks with each company. I'd love to have him all of June.....

As in terms of the ALL-TIME GREATEST THREAD THAT THERE HAS EVER BEEN ON ARBORISTSITE EVER !!! I mean, we've never had a human experiment before !

How did Old MOnkey put it.....

LOL Well true most people come here learn then get in the discussions gradually
i guess this is kinda unique..... :alien:

Nothing gradual.

First, I pledge $50 toward getting him a plane ticket out to the TCIA Spring EXPO in Long Beach, California March 10-12. Wait,...... that's two days from now! Today is Tuesday the 8th, and the Tree Care Expo is this coming Thursday through Saturday. That's starting....... um..... the day after tomorrow.

Gentlemen, we have to come to some decisions.

That's probably just what is going to happen. If he's too good to be true......he's probably a flight risk.

I had him working for me..........several times. Dozens even.

Dan

Well Dan I'm suprised you Didnt teach him better than to use a boat winch cable for a lanyard. :)

What's wrong with a boat winch cable for a lanyard? You non-certified guys are all hung up on gear. :)

Certified or not i still like to come home undamaged at the end of the day!

Dan? Wind blowing there?

Next i will need to teach him to prune without spikes. any ideas? And the Distel.....

Call it an investment and hire me for a week :)

First lend him your copy of "The... Companion" and maybe "Modern Arboriculture-Shigo" It's not as good as "Arboriculture-Harris et.al." but is much less expensive.

you should be tied in before you do any work, im assuming you only use a lanyard the whole time and your rope is only used to exit the tree?
bad habit!!

what if you had to bail out? would you have time to tie in then descend?
no- youd be screwed.

The climbing line is a tool not just a way to get down from the tree

your methods and techniques youve described scare me to death

Okay, He would climb to the Top set his Rope tie in his hitch work his way back to the lower limbs. This i thought was very interesting for a spike climber. But since he is familiar with the techniques he will be easier to get him to lose the spikes. No? Wait till i introduce him to the bigShot to set his line!So he doesnt have to climb set then lower. Lanyard=Flipline Yes he was using a poly rope for a safety/Climbing line
:blob2:

His Lanyard was in use the whole time

Should we call the anthropologists in on this one?

DDM, are you sure the guy is human, and not some extraterrestrial Climb-Bot? There could be repercussions if you integrate them into our society too quickly.....

I Ran the bucket Today and he Played Groundie. He's the best Groundsman I worked with to date as well.....
