This story will take a bit of work on my part so bear with me..
I got this old homelite 944V from a fellow member who rescued it from a dumpster, thank you Hazrack...
i worked on it and got it running and with a drill managed to get it started on the kitchen counter..i posted that video and we all got some good laughs about it..
it needed parts and Chainsaw Lady came thru with the needed parts, thank you..
when completed i posted a video of it running in the midle of winter on the back deck..that went over well as i saved a dumpster derilect from a certian death and made it live again..
up untill today it has never seen wood after i saved it..
so this guy is watching me play with a saw and tells me a neighbor is running low on wood and has only some big stuff left he cant cut up to heat his house..
now that looks like an oppertunity to try out a big saw !! well, not big wood but i got to run it anyway in some wood..
now the rest of the story.......................
there are three parties involved here,,and you all can see from this what it is like to help each other..
the main character we are cutting the wood for (to split tomorrow) is taking radiation for cancer..
the guy in the video running the saw has cancer in remision.
the guy supplying the saw is a disabled vet..and taking the video.
now taking these three old guys trying to work up some firewood all together,,#####in and trying to tell each other how to do it,,gimme that damn saw and hold my cane you dubbah !!! and only one of us can handle the saw,was one one hell of a scene to see !!
well, the wood was laying there awhile, maybe three years and was pretty dirty..dulled the chain after a tank of fuel...and Phil, forgot the saw only has a manual oiler, kinda didnt help..
HEY,,you get three guys together total over 185 years things get interesting :)
So,if i can get this rite, the first video should be of me getting the saw running on the kit counter using a drill to start it..
the seconnd should be the saw complete running outside..
the third should be old Phil putting the chain to a rock !!
enjoy... :)

Sounds good Ron, pretty good runner for a dumpster dog. I really like saving them too, I've got about thirty saws right now...time to have a sale...I need more room. I will have to get one of those video cameras, I got an old Homie today and had it running in about an hour, I plan to do some cutting some with it in the morning...would love to be able to make some videos. Thanks again for those Dolmar parts, I'll probably start on it some time tomorrow. Its a keeper so it may get some porting, but first I like to make them run good stock then go back in. Here's a picture of the Homelite after a quick wipe down. I'll have to send some rep your way for helping out folks, including me, as soon as it will let me. BTW I figured I was the only one who worked on saws in the kitchen, though I do draw the line at firing one up in the house...you are the man.

I don't post alot, but I have read litteraly thousands of threads here. In the end... This is what it is all about. Taking what we have learned and helping others. Great post!!

Man, that takes me back to when I used to use my father-in-law's old XL-12. That unmistakeable Homie burble!
Thanks for the post.:)
