I wonder if the average IQ of eBay saw sellers is improving?

What does that mean?

I see this number on the cover of the 046 magnum air filter and always wondered. Were ebay brokers trying to indemnify this was of some profound importance to the saw? I just assumed it was a part number for Stihl or something dumb like that.

311Y appears on just about all stihl power products. It's on a label that states the machine conforms to ANSI standards. A few, ok, several sellers have listed 311Y as the model number of their saw. Some get down right mad at you when you tell them there is no model 311Y.

Seems like a large amount of the idiots sell 026's as 311Y's. There was one guy who I believe sold a Stihl 090 as a LARGE SKIL saw. The pic was bad but it appeared to be a 090. I ran it to well over $200 but did not have the gonads to take it further.

Somewhat on the same note I was talking to a gentleman last weekend. he found out I wa sinterested in saws and he asked if i wanted to buy a huge Stihl. Of course my mind quickly went to a 070 or 090. His son went on to say it had a 5 foot bar on it. This reinforced my hopes. I asked him what the model number was and he said 085. This of course lead me to believe it mat be a 075 or 084. He then said it only had 5 hours on it. I then started to think something was not right. I went out to his house only to find a much smaller saw. Some people just think Stihl and think huge $.
