Im not a hydraulic expert but I think you need to let us know the size of the cylinder,rod size and cylinder size. My BIL has a 5HP on his by the way. :cheers:
 
pretty sure the pumps run from tractor pto, if so keep in mind most small engines run @ 3600. your pto pump runs much lower rpms.u might need a gear reduction engine, which is much more expensive. also the pump size dictates engine size if pump has 1" shaft u need a motor with a 1" shaft, lovejoy couplers and flex coupling. If u try to run a small engine made to run wot 3600 rpms at a lower speed to acomodate the tractor pto, u will lug the engine and destroy it.
 
for $125 u can get 11gpm barnes pump. my 30 year old quick split is still running one with a new 5hp honda. hasnt seen a log it couldn't split. its just not made for speed.
