Hello everyone,
First post here on the site. I got the itchy finger on ebay after my father got me started on these Homelite 150's. Anyway, I'm trying to fix all the ones I bought up. I need to know two things right now.

1. Where do I find Homelite Red spray paint to repaint my saws, and does anyone make the stickers of the instruction labels on the saw?

2. I just bought a 24" bar for the one I want to keep. Is this too much bar for one of these saws???

Ooops I guess that's about 3 questions.

Thanks for any help.

George

EDIT: Didn't notice this was your first post. Welcome to the site!

No idea on the paint, but I can say without a doubt that a 24" bar is WAY too much for a 43cc saw. Try sticking with 14" or 16" bars on that powerhead, that is a much more appropriate pairing.

Hi George,
Regarding paint, look at this thread. 150s are a strong little saw, but I wouldn't put larger than a 16" bar and expect any performance from it. As for decals, there's a few discussions around about making your own using transparency and decal paper, but as for finding new ones, they are rare. I saw a set on eBay a few weeks ago for a 150 and I think they went for $15 or $20.

Thanks to everyone with replies. It seems that this particular red is not as easy as picking up a can of JD green at the local hardware store. Hmmm???
As for the bar that I bought, well I guess that will go back on Ebay or something once I receive it. I think my dad has a big Husquavara he may be able to use it for. Early/Late christmas gift I guess. Ha ha.
Thanks to all again, hopefully someone has the skinny on this Homelite red paint. The thread link above was interesting, using a chevy engine orange/red, but I don't think I could ruin a nice saw with chevy paint.:D

Im in the process of tracking down a suitable auto touch up paint to re do some of my saws.

I figure the auto touch up colors should come closest due to their being tens of different shades of red made in the last 30 yrs.

The chevy red/orange does look close, but I have some NOS side covers for some of my saws witch will not get painted therefore I will need to find a near perfect match.

Well if you find one let me know. :D

Yea RBW,
Its close, but its not close enough when laid next to original. Its noticibly orangier and if you're fixing up a saw and only are painting a few parts, it won't cut it if you want it to look right. I've yet to get to a proper automoive paint store to get a good match, but it seems this is the only solution. I did go a few months ago to a local "paint" store (home stuff, not automotive) and got a gallon of some urathane stuff that matches nicely, but the crap won't dry properly. I can peel it with my fingernals even after being on the part for over a month. A good quality automotive paint seems to be the only solution.
