Good morning crew,
I just picked up this saw and unfortunately the decals and model tag are gone so I was hoping a Homelite "expert" could give me any ideas. I'm thinking it's a C-71 but want a 2nd opinion.
Thanks in advance!
Al D.
P.S I have reached out to Leon at House of Homelite too.
I just can't figure out how to add pictures yet.20190623_080944.jpg

Well I've done a full mechanical restore on the saw and another feature jumped out at me.
I checked all the C series service manuals and found non had this overrun bearing in the recoil starter BUT! the XP-1000/1100 does and a closer comparison (fuel filler) between the 2 models the 1000 is the winner.
You sir really know your saws.

Thanks,
Al D.

Well, actually I have one.

I did forget about the sprag clutch starter tho.

I don’t like red/green. [emoji57]

Well it appears that my hopes have been dashed that my $25 saw was a XP-1000.
I contacted Leon at HoH and the nagging little itch I had about the worn top decal was correct. The saw is in fact a C-91 with the optional XP sprocket cover. I also used a depth micrometer and measured the bore and it's 2" (measured thru the exhaust, touched the piston .750 then moved it and 2.758+/- to the other side)
Also there are several later C models that have the non F-M recoil starter, live and learn

I'm the cheap don't pay more than $15 for saws at auction guy. But sometimes you have to come off the bucks, and sometimes you have to be happy with what you have. I'd e ecstatic to find a C91 like that for $25. I love the red, green and black handle. If you lived within driving distance, I think I'd trade a Super 1050 for that one.

I've been trying to upload a short clip of it running, it's a beast!
I'm quite familiar with the C series saws and was able to rip it down and give it a thorough cleaning, rebuild the carb and replace the fuel lines and pull cord within 90 mins. I always have 6+ Tillotson OEM HL and HS kits at any given time along with Walbros too.
Now that the weather is nice I'm going to pull all my Homelites out and take a nice picture of them grouped into models.
