Does anyone know what the XL-12's/SXL's cost when they were new??

What is a good used one (good chain/bar, good sprocket, strong running, clean........) go for ??

The last SXL's sold for $299 new. I believe that was their price for years. As for used $0-$125. I have seen a few NIB that should bring around $250.

hey bud. the blue book im reading ,says
xl12 $359. and the sxl$ 389,in1985.
the last xl 12 is listed in 87.
the sxl list on thru 97. they called that one old blu. whick got to be a different old blue than the one i had back in 80.
any way, its msrp was $459.
dont know how accurate this book is.
i do know the trade in values it gives are low.hope this helped.

Old Blue and Big Red saws were still available from places like Harbor FReight and Northern Hydraulics until something like 1994. I got a big red then for $260, never opened the box, and eventually traded it for a deer rifle.

I've seen XL-12s on eBay in the $10-50 range, and good red SXLs going up to around $100 for a really sharp one.

HF still will sell you a Super2 or one of those types.
