I bought a Super 650 homelite today for $25. It needs a carb kit and intake boot( which he also gave me). It has a full wrap and 28" b/c. It is in very good condition. I am going to keep it but what is it worth when I get it running again? Steve

Worth a heck of alot more than $25, that's for sure :). You just got one great deal.

Dan

Won't comment on the stihl. OK.... without a doubt, you got at least 2-1/2 INFREAKINCREDIBLE deals today! :)

If you decide to part with the 650, let me know. That's one I have been looking for for my collection. I will at least quadruple your money for you.;)

And I will octuple it! LOL!!

Didn't the 650 Super have the thin-ring piston and bigger carb or non-governed carb? Maybe one of the Homelite guys can answer this...

I have seen the thin rings on both (though they may not have come that way) and the IPL's I have seen for both show the same carb. I found this out while trying to track down one of those big carbs for one of my 750's. I think that I remember reading that the super had an extra ear on the starter cover to bolt it to the crankcase. I would like to know any further answers myself. Teach me and i'll try to learn.

The pumps do look the same to me. I did need to put new o-rings in the pump in my 650 and it appeared to be the same pump, unless there were subtle diameter differences I didn't catch.

The Super had a fifth anti-vibe where the plain 650 only used four. Muffler bolts were bigger (I think they grew to 1/4" on the super). There may have been different porting on the cylinder. Never took measurements to compare. Part numbers are different because of the larger muffler bolts. Same piston, carb and pretty much everything else. Pretty sure the auto oiler stayed the same throughout the 650/750 series.

Here are a few pic's of my Super 650.
It has the same recoil bolt pattern as a 750
with the 5 bolts. It also has the WB2 carb.

I too just bought a Homelite super 650. Paid $70.00 for mine but it came with 2 46" bars and2 very sharp chains. It has the low compression switch to make starting easier. I am working on a no spark issue with it though. Any suggestions are welcome.

I just got a 650. It has the 5 bolts on the left cover. It doesn't say Super.
Where is the 5th AV mount or, how else can I tell if this is a Super or not ?

Look on the clutch side at the front part of the saw. There should be two mounted vertically on this side. The third will be opposite the lower one on the starter side and the fourth and fifth are on the rear handle/carb chamber housing.

Of course I had to walk my 5-beers-deep butt out to the shop in my stocking feet to check. :)
No AV above the bottom one that I can see without pulling the clutch cover off.
I guess the 5 bolt cover theory doesn't apply. It's the same engine though ? It's now just a question of thin ring or not ?
This is my 1st saw with a full wrap handle. Are they legal on the right coast ? LOL
