Homelite Super-XL 922 rabbit hole project

I got this off ebay at a price to good to be true... (it was...)

once it arrived I started digging in and realized that it was missing some vital things pulled the starter cover and (part of the 3 piece igntion was gone) and had a broken handle.

As I was digging into the saw I found that the igntion wasn't the only problem. the plate it bolts to was also broken... (notice the silicone)




I ended up sourcing a new plate for the the igntion parts & put a nutsert into the case that was busted out




I got spark. then moved forward to work on getting this mostly cleaned up to get things working. Replaced the fuel line, got a replacement handle and part where it attaches. once I had all the things replaced, I was able to get it started.

as I'm going through my pics I realize I probably have forgotten many things (like I also had to replace the exhaust... becuase the old one was rotted out) and I got a big set of dogs for it.

Once I got things together I was able to get it fired up and tuned, I added a 30" bar and got bar'd and chained up today.

once I figure out how to convert video to the right format I'll get a video of it running. The goal is to clean it up and do some port work to it similar what the Tinman on youtube did for the 922 he built (but in this case, the first step is to get it running)

Nice. As I understand it (vaguely) the 922 was available in Canada but not the 925?

Yeah, for whatever reason it was only an option up there, it shares many of the same parts as the 925 but not all the parts from what I understand. Leon's got some great insight into what crosses over here: https://www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/parts-diagrams.html

I noticed that the bar wasn't oiling as good as I would have liked, I checked in the oil tank and found that the filter and screen had fallen off. I've torn it apart, pulled both the manual and automatic oiler feeds and replaced the lines that the screens were attached to. Now it appears to oil quite a bit better and I'm hoping to get it into some wood today (we'll see how that goes)
