Homelite super xl auto oil tank vent?

just fixed the vents in the gas caps on two of my super xl's, thought I would ck the oil tank vent, but I don't see one . There is a tiny steel pin in the top of the tank just below the filler cap . what is it? also where would the vent be for the oil tank, I asume it has one . Thank in advance for any info.

Possibly, keep it clean but since it is a rather loose fit I have not seen one with a totally plugged up vent.
