I just picked up a SXL-925 cheap on ebay. The saw has good cosmetics but very low compression. (50 lbs plus or minuts) I havent been into the saw but what would the probable cause of this low number be? Are ne jugs and pistons available? Im new to the old saw hobby and to this site but Ive got the fever bad. This is my thirds 925..got the other two runnin good. THANKS

Sorry for all the typos

I didnt realize you could proof the post. I can spell but I cant see too well.

Low compression probably a bad cylinder/ piston. As for cause hard to tell, most bad pistons are done from the old straight gas trick. Pulling the muffler might show some damage, but I think you already know the answer. There are parts around but they are hard to find. xl 925 one of the best saws homelite ever made in my opinion. Welcome to site and have fun. :)

Since I have two more of these my original intent was to get it for a parts saw. Aside from the compression problem its a really nice saw cosmetically. Maybe one day Ill luck some parts...
