Honda GX390, whats the biggest pump ??

Building a splitter, have a Honda GX390 and 5"bore cylinder, what is the biggest 2 stage pump it will run ?? I'm sure it will run a 16gpm, not sure about a 22gpm...thanks

Ive seen enough 22gpm pumps attached to Honda GX390s with 5" cylinders to tell you that it can be done. I unfortunately do not know the performance characteristics compared to one with a 16gpm pump.

A spec I have seen for 22gpm pumps is a 15hp engine. A GX390 is advertised at 13hp. I don't know what PSI this is at though.

To end, this calculation comes out of the Northern tool catalog.

HP required=GPM x PSI / 1740 x Pump Efficency %

I have your setup 5x24 gx390 22gpm, splits most everything just off an idle. Cycle time is excellent. 15 gallon tanks, gets warm after two people feeding it for an hour.

Nice splitter...what brand of pump are you using, where did you get it ???
