How feasible do you all think it would be for a Climber to seasonally migrate from one part of the country to another to pursue better weather conditions?

I'm believe anywhere there are trees there exists opportunity for a Good Climber.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I think it'd be a pain to find lodging and all that stuff. You are right, there are (almost) always trees to be climbed. If you are good enough (and insured) and trust the people that you're going to work with and if you don't mind moving around a lot, then I'd do it.

If you want to be a tree bum and make freinds easily. I've slept on couches and floors and know guys who do it regularly.

If you are really good at doing big tree work, you can get people to pay your expences, the foot in the door is the big problem.

I have a few friends for whom i can work a few days passing through alomst any time of the year. taht helps if driving cross country. Stop for a few days and do some work.

I'm getting too old for the itinerant life, I need a nice bed and a quiet nights sleep. Good break fast....

Are you kidding? There are some 5-th wheel campers out there nicer than alot of houses. If I was so inclined to travel like that, you bet I'd be doin' it in style...
;)

Thise 5th wheel jobs cost like a small house too.

pull out sides, satilite TV with auto tracking. I've thougth about a small standard toung, maybe 20ft. Custom master ebd so i can streatch out :D

No desire to be a Nomad. I have had jobs where I fly to a different town every week. Hard on the private life.

I have jumped between TX and Germany doing tree work but it always ends up the same. BROKE. I can't afford 2 insurance policies (thought it is sssoooo much cheaper there). That means I usually end up doing illeagal removals, dropping trees where the owner couldn't get the permit, etc. You can get some cash fast because there yards are small, trees are big and people place a high value on sunshine. No future in fly by night, no integrity either. That is why I am running my own show here and currently looking for a job there.

People ask how I can afford to travel to Europe a few times a year - like others said, travel is cheap, living is expensive. I have lots of friends and family here and there.

That's how the travelliing union linemen and some union tree trimmers do it, they might be in another state next week. Apartment would be PITA(moving in/out, deposits), motels too expensive. I knew more than a few tree apprentices that lived out of their trucks and joined Golds Gym($30 mo.) for a place to shower.

If you went the trailer route you might want to buy fairly new because some trailer parks(at least around here) don't want anything too old on site(eg. newer than 15 years old). Lots of those traveling expenses can be written off.

At one time I wanted to be a lineman, but my wife refused to live in a trailer for 3 years.
