A crystal clear -22F/-30C this morning...windchill -49F/-45C...funny how the temperatures go....-40 is the same for fahrenheit and celsius..then they start to go the other way with fahrenheit being lower than celsius

That's because -40 is the nexus of reality. Your belly button disappears and pops out your @$$. Its a balmy 2 F right now. Wind is blowing and so is my nose. I'm staying in today.

Well here it's from -1C to +1C, but that is like normal here.
It can be from +5C to -10C at this time of the year here at the West Coast.

My brother road his snowmobile from Warroad to Oak Island last weekend. He said it was -36 when he woke up Mon morning. He trailered his snowmobile back. What a wimp. lol
This late winter cold snap has been here for a couple of weeks now. Most nights lows in the -30's and - 40's (-48 F just a couple of nights ago.)It is -37 F here now and expected to be -45 later. The low last night was -42 F. A cool way to begin March. Overall though, this has been a warm winter.
Gurls are tough. Was getting gas in Fbks several days ago and the young woman at the nearby pump was wearing flip-flops. At -32 F!
Now that there is lots of light, the afternoons are beautiful and much warmer. Warms up to -10 or -15. Crystal blue skies.
I couldn't find the thread, but on a related topic, wood does very definitely split easier when it is this cold. Especially birch but also spruce. It just pops apart with the touch of an axe at -40 F.

We're not real cold today (right now at 27F/-3C), but in the middle of a blizzard warning that is supposed to continue through 6PM tonight.
Western Iowa is getting hammered. I-80 is closed from Des Moines to Nebraska, I-29 closed from Missouri state line north to South Dakota line. Lots of other closures.
It's a mess out there right now.

Went out to the woodlot today and it was around zero degrees but obviously just the right temperature for the Ice Pack to come into the bay.
The woodlot is right behind the old blue fish plant in the first picture which is behind the upright on the right of the ice..

It snowed like he!! here yesterday. It warmed up to about 40 F today at 4700 ft elevation and melted but I don't think it melted any at 8000ft where I'm working. Welcome to sunny southern California.
