Big blow around Astoria. Got off night shift this morning and had to cut my way up the driveway. Luckily everything broke off half way up and missed the power lines. Went to look at the rest of my property and I've got several trees down. The new neighbor had one down on his satellite dish but luckily he put it up on my property so I think I'm in the clear there. Did get a pretty good workout this morning. The Shindaiwa 488 was in fine form and just the right size for the job. Hope things went well with others. I'm sure not complaining about the way things ended here.

Here in the Portland 'burbs, I feel like Mother Nature cheated me a bit. Bought a spiffy new 361 exactly one week ago, and then here comes the big windstorm forecast.... Ah yes, a chance to put 'er to real use...

But despite all the huge trees around my house blowing all over the place last night, the biggest thing that came down on my property was about 2" in diameter. :(

Eastern Washington got hit............

Here in Spokane, WA we got hit with some pretty strong winds. Most places outside of town still have no power and the telephone lines are down. The wind is still gusting around 35mph. Many trees in the area hit cars and houses. Lots of branches in the street and drifting garbage and debris. I have heard several chainsaws throughout the neighborhood today. No damage at my place. Stay Safe all you North Westerners!

Winlock, WA. Got hit really hard and at the house we will be with out power for up to a week. The shop though has power. I had to literally cut my way out of town last night. Every road leading out of town had trees down. The train was stuck for hours waiting to clear trees down accross the tracks. that tied up half the routes right there. I tried 3 roads before I went back to the shop and grabbed one of my modified saws.

I grabbed the MS440 with a big bore and a stage III +. I have to say that this was some of the most fun I have had in a while. There were guys who had 066's and 385's that where getting the butts handed to them by a 044 and not any small way. :buttkick: I cut close to 2 cords worth of wood last night and this morning trying to get home and cutting neighbors drive ways this morning.

I am happy that you are safe, and had some fun into the bargain!
:)
Hopefully the same if the case with JEFF, but have you heard from him??????

East of Springfield Or.

I'm on the Mckenzie east of Springfield and we were without power for a couple of hours and had a 18" maple down across the driveway. Have spent the day cutting it up with some old timer saws. Jonsered 49sp, Echo cs500 and 280e. Wasn't till I was nearly done that I found a much bigger maple had come down behind the barn. Just missed it. I guess tomorrow some more old saws get to work. We were lucky this time but others around here and further north aren't having the "saw fun" we are......Bob

I was listening to the scanner before we lost power at the paper mill where I work. One of the DOT guys across the river in Washington called in to say he had a tree across the road. Dispatcher asked how big it was and he replied, "Six feet". The answer he got back was "Well, just move it." DOT guy replies, " You don't understand, its six feet across." We lost power twice at the mill which adds up to some pretty big bucks fast. I know in our area, as wet as the ground is there could have been a lot more stuff come down. I feel for you guys that got hit hard.

Storm cleanup job opportunities.........

I noticed something quite interesting on "Washington State" Craigslist today. Everyone is posting like crazy regarding storm cleanup and services. Most people are veteran loggers and some are average homeowners with a pickup and saw who are looking to help out and make a few bucks. Different folks are charging different rates for cleanup and cutting wind damaged trees. Anyone else notice this rapidly growing trend?

Alls well here on the central Oregon coast around the Newport Toledo area.
Tree's down everywhere but around me, never got to fire up a saw yet. Will probably help some folks cleanup. Looks like mostly firewood (small stuff). Power out for 36 hours. Hebo Mountain on the northern coast report 115 mile hour winds, someone said there were 130 miler hour winds on Mount Hood.
Theres going to be alot of cleanup.
Glad to here all is well with the rest of you Left Coasters.
Merry Christmas all
