Just bought a little G2500ts climbing saw and got it from a friend of mine for about half of retail. Looks like a great little saw. Does anybody use these or know much about them.
thanks

I have a G415AVS Red Max 41cc 16" 95vp chain. sweet little saw.
unfortunally this model was never imported to the US,mine came from Greenland. Pricey little saws..too pricey. My local guy only keeps 2 or 3 saws in stock. He also sells Echo so the Red Max is a real hard sell. $400.00 for a 38cc saw is too much for the average buyer

I took a look at them this past weekend. The G2500TS is a light powerhead at 6.4lbs. The better saw is the G310TS at 7.3 lbs. I am sure they are both great saws but the design of the 310 feels much more balanced even though it is nearly 1 lb heavier. The dealer I talked with says the price has come down a great deal. I believ is selling the 2500 at $210 and the 310 at $360. This is with a 12 inch bar. I will wait and see if I can get the 310 for $275. I do not know if they will get that low.

I've found that little 2500 Red Max to be under powered. Very light though. Better choices out there with better "power to dollar ratios". Echo 3400 or Solo 633 are both around $250US with a 12" bar.
But, you can hardly beat half off retail.

Does anyone know the heritage Redmax. I think they are either connected with Zenoa, Tanaka, or Kumatsu. I didn't think they had been available in the U.S. for a few years. There was also some kind of lawsuit amoung these companies; I think about who had license to market in certain countries.

They seem to have a premium reputation.

It is understandable that they are high priced. Goods from Japan is very expensive because of some international monetary this. I heard that is why Echo is priced as it is.

In the US its sold as a Red Max The rest of the world gets
them as Kamatsu Zenoah Co. With Red Max,we dont get the entire line of products. My G415AVS is an example of this.
They were formally sold here from 1975-88 by GreenMachine.
In 1987 Kamatsu set up the Kamatsu Zenoah America division to handle sales under their name. That is where the lawsuit comes in, from what I understand
