How much fuel per hour???

Hello

I would like to know your experience about the fuel use in each chainsaw. How many fuel per hour your saw spent?

Off course this depends of many factors, but for example (Stihl ms 361 owners): How many minutes you spent a tank fuel?

Don't know about the 361 but my Danny Henry modded 346XP's eat 3-4 tanks an hour if you're on the trigger and in the wood, 16" or 18" bars. The 7900's Danny did up for me, average 3 tanks an hour or 5 if you're in big wood/ over 4' dia. Bigger wood and switching the 20" bar for the 32" bar seems to require more fuel to feed the 7900's.

I can make 6 cuts with my 394xp in 34-36" oak with 32" bar and on the 7th cut, she's dry.

On the other hand, my little Husky 51 seems to run forever on one tank of gas. It probably goes 40 minutes or more. Of course, I'm not using it in the big wood.

I haven't kept a record or done a study, but I do know that my 036 will run right at 40 minutes per tank, 20" bar and running steady. Interesting that it is a larger displacement than my 034 but gets slightly better fuel "mileage" than the 034.

That 40 minutes above is with the saw running the full time except idling while I toss aside a round or some limbs. I would expect a 361 to be about the same, but I haven't run one so don't know.

Cutting 8"-18" Doug Fir with a 361 I get 45min or so out of a tank. I got into some real nice 18"-20" Maple last year and only got 15-20min per tank. The saw never struggled but was definitely working harder in the Maple.

That seems like a lot of fuel..... My buddy's 2094 j-red will run for a half hour cuttin' timber on a tank. And all the guy's that I talk to that have 395's/394's say the same, half hour per tank. My 440/460 get prolly a half hour to the tank as well, the 066 gets prolly close a half hour as well, but it has a BIG tank. I don't even have a tank through the 660 yet. But the 385 will get 35-40 min per tank, but it's un-modded right now. My 280 will go prolly 40 min to a tank.:greenchainsaw:

I haven't really kept track of time on gas but I have noticed a pattern that I can get about a truckload of wood per tank, w/ a 310. well up to the bed rails not heaping or ranked. A 361 I have occasionally used seems to go a bit longer, but have never really accuratley compared. I'm cutting a bunch of cherry and maple within the next few days, I will time it and if I can remember I'll post.

I started a thread asking if there was something wrong with my 394 because of how much gas I go thru. Most everyone agreed that it's just a thirsty saw along with the bigger stihls, only that they have a slightly larger tank.

When I say 7 cuts, I'm talking about green oak with the 32" bar barried running wot, nonstop. Probably just under 20 minutes?

Dang is it modded, I mean six cuts wow you may want to sharpen that chain man! maybe I need to count the cuts on my 395, I
know it likes fuel, I think I do better but haven't counted
