I think more info is required to answer your question, for instance, local laws and state laws may dictate 'abandonment issues' if it has not been used for twenty years. Around here it is wise to keep roads and easements mowed once a year to prove they have been used and are maintained. If the easement were in a environmentally sensitive area and not maintained(ie, 20 year old trees growing on it) it might become an issue.
I have seen easements overgrow and revert to the owner of the property when they are not maintained. Your legal document of the easement might need reviewed by an attorney. State or local laws can help you or hurt you, as is often the case, so tread lightly until you are informed.
