It will kill you stay away please! I say this because I feel you are putting your self in harms way! Call the power company. We use an insulated new aerial lift with rubber linemans gloves and an insulated fiberglass stick saw made for that and still are apprehensive.

What do u mean cat pumper it's not in the tree it's called low clearance brush all transmission lines isn't 60 feet in the air we live in the mountain not flatland

If you are a curious homeowner, with this situation on your property, call the transmission provider immediately. if this is truly the case, the operator is in gross violation of FERC standards and could face seven figure fines. they will be glad to send a crew immediately. transmission voltage will turn you into goo. No insulating tools that I know of will protect 138kv I woould have it killed.

I just read that you ARE the crew. The only safe way is to stay outside of the MAD- or use tools that are rated to that voltage.(which fiberglass pruners are not) othet than that get it deenergized or you can be deenergized. if it is within inches it is burning anf energized- no safe way to do it hot... not saying it cant be done... just not safely in my opinion

What the hell is a cat pumper? Maybe I don't want to know but should for future reference.

What you describe sounds nasty. I don't mess with that kind of stuff but am interested in seeing some pictures and hearing more details.

I'm guessing homeowner and has a plan and has every intention in doing it regardless of what he's told and wants to know if his plan is in the ball park of how it should really be done.
