All of my saw buddies say to use the cold start method. This is when it is put one notch below the start setting, started, then blip the throttle. Why not just put it on the start notch to begin with? After warmed up mine starts with just one pull either way. Does this prolong the life of the saw?
thanks:bang:

Cold start is with full Choke -definitely don't do that.

If it's hot you can either start it in the "hot start" position (one up from choke = no choke, slight throttle advance) or just in the idle postion.

The reason to start it in the "Hot start" positon is that if it is not realy hot (coolling off), it's more reliable than starting in just idle.

If it's just a fuel stop, I'll just turn it on. If it's to sharpen my chain, take a leak, and down a beer (kidding on the beer) I'll start it on the fast idle. Both reliable methods. I only use the choke on a cold start.

Totally agree (and that goes for Huskys too)!!! :rockn: :rockn:
