I've been doing a bunch of work in this neighborhood, and met a new owner a few months ago. We spoke casually one day in the road, gave him a card, and that was that. Well he calls me a couple of weeks ago, says come on down... look at the trees, let me know what has to be done. So I'm walking around the other day, checking things out, saying WOW... some beautiful trees, plenty of light pruning work to be done, cables to be raised, etc. etc. I can't wait to prune this oak BTW. All happy. Spend a week or two doing this stuff and then onto the next house, come back and spray / monitor.

Then I see this ugly swamp maple, with another client's house for a target. I think MAYBE I can save it, yes?

I dunno.....you could leave it for a few more years but I would take it sown before it rots out....IMHO I have a maple I am working on over at my aunts house that looks the same way but it is splitting and leaning over the trailer.....gotta come down. She didn't like it when I told her but it is better than losing the trailer in the next wind storm. Now she is excited about planting two more.
