Tree work = 4 or maybe 5. Timber = 10.

I have one 80-acre parcel to select-cut, followed by another 160-acre parcel to select-cut, followed by 3000 acres to select-cut. As far as tree work, things are a little slow because when people have to choose between groceries and tree work, they generally choose groceries.

I was told I was the only tree service in town by just about everyone down here. Then my dad tells me that yesterday two guys knocked on his door (while I was busy driving 1600 miles in 27 hours straight from Upstate NY to Southeast OK...) to ask him if he was interested in having the Pine (which is actually a Cedar...) over the house trimmed. He declined, explaining that his son was in the same line of work, and had been handling things around town here for the past few months. He said the dudes practically ran back to their truck and floored it down the driveway.

FYI, the tree needs no work. Now I'm thinking, "great, now I have to fight hacks for work in this little town too".

We are at about an 8 here.

My problem is too many requests for quotes but no one to actually do the work. I have two great guys but they take no interest in the management side of the business or customer service side so unless it is a simple removal I have to be there to help move the process along. I wish they took an interest in what I have to do to make the jobs go the right way and please the customer. They don't understand the value you get out of putting mats down before you drive into the yard.

Monkeyman...call me if you need some work here or there.....I noticed a new guy advertising in the The Clarion.

Hey are you anywhere near Cincinnati? If so, do you need a certified climber for the winter?
