Recently I've started working building aerial adventure courses and many times through the day at a hang I'm using a grinder to cut threaded bolts and no matter how careful I am I get the stupid hot grinder debris on my harness and after only 3 weeks the ropes on my mcrs are showing significant wear and just thought I'd throw the question out to the community and collect opinions on using hrc for the rope on my mcrs. I do know that there are fire resistant rope access harnesses but they're incredibly expensive, though they're definitely a viable option for the future. Thanks for any and all opinions and help

The problem with hrc is that it has a technora core. These high modulus fiber (technora, dyneema, etc) are self abrading md shouldnt be used in applications like a harness bridge, etc.

So same thing with ice-tail and many other high heat resistant cordage? Precisely what makes the application of these high modulus fiber cordages for prussiks acceptable but not rope bridges or other harness components?

Same thing with icetail, amsteel, etc.
With a rope bridge you have a ring running back and forth, this causes the fibers to rub against eachother and break down relatively quickly.
It may be difficult to make this happen but you could use an hrc jacket to shield your stuff from spark damage.

So why can't the hrc just be used since the cover is what contains the technora/nomex blend will that negatively impact the vectran core?
