Greets,Sorry about the verbage. I'm not familiar with the language of the tree workers. I would like to have a rope to climb to my bowstands. I also would like to be teathered to the tree for fall protection.Any harness/knots that you like? I have seem the foot/hand loops that let you climb/descend a larger dia. rope. I use a harness that would make me dangle if I use my climbing stand. I have heard of hunters hanging themselves and found dead in the tree.I carry a knife to cut myself out and have often thought about what to do if something goes bad.I went right to the experts here as your lives depend on your safetyropes/rigging.Thanks and BeBlessed.

Thanks for wanting to climb to your deer stand with ropes rather than spikes or spurs. Easier on trees.

Simplest and cheapest is what we call DdRT, double (dynamic) rope technique, with a Blakes climbing hitch. Also get a "Friction Saver" to protect the cambium on your tree from rope friction and to make your climb easier. The little "Tree Climber's Companion" booklet has good illustrations on how to do it. More expensive and more complicated, but easier to climb if you are as old as I am, SRT (Single Rope Technique, Static rope climbing like cavers and mountain climbers use) also works well, but it rquires more equipment. For a saddle, for what you want to do, New Tribe Tengue would be a good choice. Just be sure to adjust the leg pads not too high above the knees and lean back to keep from pinching the family jewels. Actually, since you aren't hanging in the saddle for long periods, the cheapest Weaver basic saddle would probably be fine.

You can get new but shorter rope from Wesspur on line.(cheaper) If ya thinking about getting a saddle. I have a used medium size saddle with flat seat.
