Does anybody know where I would be able to find a coil to fit a husky 2100cd? I have heard that they are the same as a 280, 480, and a stihl 056. I just got a hold of this saw and it hasn't got any fire. And yes, I checked the switch, tried a new plug, the usual stuff.

Just a word, make sure that you do your homework on which coil you need. The 285cd, 298xp, 1100cd, 2100 (xp nd CD), 2101 are all based on the same saw but even they have differences in flywheels and ignitions. I doubt that the 77cc saws 77, 180, 280, 380, and 480 share the same ignition.. they are very similar looking but do have a different case and crankshaft diameter. I have to admit I'm not positive, though. The good news is that Husqvarna does a very nice job on their website of providing illustrated parts lists and part numbers. These parts are not that easy to find and they are fairly expensive. The saws are really worth it, though.. perfect milling saws. Patience and tenacity will win the day.

Oh, Andy is right, the 056 is a Stihl, don't bother with it. Search the site, there's some good information here.

I was wrong

I had read somewhere on here that the coils for a 2100 and an 056 were the same. It's a moot point now, though. I did a little more fussing around tonight and got the 2100 running. All it took was a little TLC and some heavy cleaning. Now I just have to track down a few small parts, which I see cheapshtilsawparts lists. Lucky for me he is only a little over an hour away. For 50 bucks and a few hours of fiddling, I now have a running 2100. Afew more bucks in small parts and a call to Baileys for a 36" Carlton bar (clearance for 35.00), and I'll have a testosterone machine.:biggrinbounce2:

Looking for starter

Hello all of you,
I'm a "poor lonesome french climber" looking for a starter for its Husky 2100 CD chainsaw... As you say, it's a damn good chainsaw, here the trees are falling just looking at it !!:chainsawguy:
Nevertheless, I bought a starter and chainsaw fan housing in USA but it didn't fit. Obviously, the 2100 CD (european one) is slightly different from the one sold in America (the one bought wasn't thick enough)... Would you be able to give some help to a poor French... ???
Thanks a lot in advance you guys !! You rock !:rockn:
Cheers,
Jack

Here is some help,

I have seen two types of starters on these saws. The thick one like yours had, and the thin one like you got. On the thin one there is a spacer plate that goes between the saw and the starter. If you had the spacer it would fit.

And as I just learned with my 2101, that spacer makes all the difference in the world. On my saw the starter went from totally non-functional (free wheeled when you pulled it) to 100% as soon as I added the spacer (actually called the Air Deflector).
