My Husky 262XP oil fill cap has leaked by since the saw was new. Ive tried new o-rings, and have tightened a few caps too tight and had to replace them as the threads shear off. It is almost as if the casting of the oil fill hole was machined, "Out of round". Has anyone else experienced this problem? or any suggestions out there? I never took it back to the dealer because I moved away from the area. And besides, its just an aggrevation, more than anything.:bang:

I also have an 262xp but do not have a problem with oil or gas leaking out around the caps. I leaks out of the saw (somewhere) because their is always a stain on the ground but whatta gonna do.

Thanks Guys. Maybe I will try an over sized o-ring around the cap. The original one looks as though it could be doubled in size.

I've used larger O-rings on mine, and for the fuel cap I replaced it with one from a new 346XP (it has a much better sealing mechanism).

Be sure to crack open the oil cap, then re-close it before storing the saw. Doing so seems to stop leaking thru the oiler mechanism, which is otherwise a chronic problem. Is it possible this is where the oil is leaking from?

The oil leaves a definate trail originating from the oil fill cap. Great idea for the better styled gas cap. Wonder if there is a better interchangeable oil fill cap out there? Thanks for the good info. Liam
