I am looking to find a Husky 262xp in running or not condition....... Thank you and Happy New Year, Marc

You're new here, so welcome.

Now that that's over with, this really should be in the Trading Post forum instead.

K, first, welcome to AS:rock: Now that the niceties are over:

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason I laugh, is there are at least four of us looking for the same saw, no disrespect to you at all!!!
Andy

OHHHH no disrespect taken... Tougher skin than that.. There are tons of them saws around here and NO ONE will part with it. We have a couple at work that everyone is waiting for the right time to try one out at home.. I got a 335xpt they quit working and the mechanics said it was junk and threw away right into my truck....Ignition wire rubbed through.. Runs like a champ now....... If I can get my hands on some 261/262's I will let you know. Marc

That would most generous of you sir

I had a 262xp that I found at a garage sale, ran like a scalded ape!!! Then it died, put on a new coil, good as new, then it wouldn't idle, carb kit and new crank seals, still not right, long story short, I got frustrated and sold it to a member here, and can't find anything like it to replace it. A real bonehead move on my part!!!

You were warned!

...or maybe it was too late, I don't really remember...:bang: :bang:

My brother has an older 262xpg without decomp valve, and I have not succeded to pry it away from him - probably the last of his belongings he would part with......;)

Just a friendly heads up on the 261's. i picked up one recently. It is a 99 model. I think they were made up until 2000 or 2001. The cylinders are the same as the 262xp, but the piston is dished instead of a flat top. The cylinder even has H262 cast into the bottom of it. So with a simple change of a piston you could have a real 262 or 261xp.....I've got the piston part number if anyone is interested

Hay I,ve got a 262 that needs a good home and some use. Bought it new in 92 and still have all the paperwork too. Three bars with the saw; 18", 20, and 28". PM or email Walken53@aol,com

MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! How does that work out LOL!!!! I give up!! I guess I am looking for a 361 now :hmm3grin2orange:

Andy, what would you have done to your old 262XP to get it running? Sounds like you did all the logical stuff to get it to work.

I have an e-bay special 266XP that just rips (IMHO). I was blasting thru some 24" red oak with a 28" bar with this saw in the summer and was amazed at how it just sank thru the wood. When cutting up some hickory this fall, the screw came off the throttle butterfly and did some damage to the piston and bit of damage to the cylinder. I cleaned up the piston and it runs well now, but I need to get some more wood to really put it to the test. I have a new piston in reserve if it isn't up to snuff with the cleaned up slug.

I think the 268 parts will fit on the 266, but what's the cc gain?

I did, but I should have boxed and shipped it to someone else to repair, but even then? I think that saw and I didn't belong together!! Still haven't heard from the new owner, hope all is well with them?

I just didn't realize how hard it was going to be to find something that would keep up with it, thats all!

With all the buzz about the 361 I went the dealer to try one. Very nice indeed. I brought along my 357xp by Dan The Man to compair cuts. I'll stick with orange for now, smilling big time. But I do wonder about that 7900 saw too.

the guy i cut with has a real nice 262xp...make him an offer. swap him something. gotta be a husky. how bad you talkers want one???
