I was cutting an Osage Orange tree down tonight and my saw chain got tighter than a drum. It seemed the oiler wasn't working so I disassembled and found that there was a cheap plastic gear on the crankshaft driving the oil pump. The threads were messed up enough to prevent it from driving the mating gear in the oil pump housing.
My 3120 has a brass gear (that apparently costs about $40) which I discovered when I fixed that oil pump a few months ago. The gears seem identical. I need a new one for the 281xp and was wondering if a new 3120 brass gear would work on the 281.
Also if anyone knows any part numbers I'd appreciate it since the local dealer never seems to know much.
Thanks
