Hi All,

I recently bought a 359, which was shipped to me and I took off the top cover to find this little rubber piece loose in the top. Thinking that rubber and the hot cylinder were a bad mix I tossed it into the box and put it in the garage. Now I just went to a website that had a parts diagram and it appears that the little rubber piece is a support??? It appears that it should go in one of the cylinder screw holes, but what does it support? Should I try to find it or buy a new one and place it back?

Hi Evin. The rubber support goes in the cylinder bolt hole closest to the bar. It gives some rigidity to the air filter cover. I have used my 359 for awhile now and the rubber piece is fine. I have had more issues with exhaust from the muffler trying to toast the underside of the air filter cover.:blob2:

Urbicide,

On my 359, there is an adhesive backed, aluminum foil piece protecting the airfilter cover from exhaust gases. The foil has become brittle with use and is starting to peel off. Next time I have the cover off, I will replace it with a piece of aluminum duct tape. Perhaps aluminium duct tape will work for your saw. I cannot vouch for the efficacy of doing so since I have not tried it yet.
